Fix pack 6.02 adds more fields and picture tags to GEDCOM export. It also changes the structure so data moves more easily from version 6 to WinFamily 7.

It fixes instability in the backup function. It also fixes a minor error when deleting shared data and makes it possible to print the yellow reminder notes.

Running the latest fix pack, 6.02, is always enough.

The error is caused by an old setting in Windows. This is how to remove it:

1. Press the Windows key + R, type regedit and click OK.
2. Open HKEY_CURRENT_USER and then JamoDat.
3. Click jmpict.
4. Right-click picdir6 on the right side of the window and choose Delete. Do not change anything else.
5. Close the Registry Editor and install WinFamily 6.02 again.

If you cannot see »6.02« on the grey WinFamily start screen, install fix pack 6.02 again.

Version 6 cannot read a version 3 file directly. First install version 4 as shareware, open your version 3 file and save it in version 4. You can then open that file directly in version 6.

Languages come from language packs that you download separately. Install the language pack you want and choose the language in WinFamily's settings. Then close WinFamily and start it again.

You will find all language packs in the download section on the front page.

It is almost always a printer driver problem. Try these solutions:

1. Right-click the printer, choose Properties and turn on »Print TrueType fonts as graphics« if your driver has that setting.
2. Use the Windows driver for the printer instead of HP's own driver.
3. Switch to a font that is not TrueType and see if that solves the problem.

Some printers have trouble with RTF coding, which is used for the rounded corners of the person boxes. Choose square corners for the person boxes, and the stripes will usually disappear.

People marked as alive are shown with only a minimum of information. This is because data protection law does not allow you to publish just anything about living people.

1. Click the Maintenance menu and then Options.
2. Choose the Tools tab.
3. Click »Reset all settings to normal«.
4. Close WinFamily and start it again.

You have added a child to the husband without saying who the mother is, or the other way round. Remove all the children and add them again.

Files on a CD automatically become read-only. Copy the file to your hard disk, right-click it, choose Properties and untick »Read-only«.

1. Find the folder where WinFamily is installed in File Explorer.
2. Make a copy of your data file, which ends in .ge6, somewhere else on your hard disk.
3. In the same folder there is a file with the same name ending in .bak. Rename it so it ends in .ge6.
4. Open the renamed file in WinFamily.

When you merge data into an existing database, people who are in both will be registered twice. You then have to compare and delete them manually.

If you only want to transfer a few people, first make a database with just those people and merge that in.
